Logansport Memorial Hospital is proud to announce that Dr. Benjamin Anderson, Hospitalist at Logansport Memorial Hospital, was nominated and then chosen to receive a ‘Hoosier of the Year’ award from the Indiana Society of Chicago Foundation, Inc. He was honored as an exceptional health care hero for his hard work and dedication to keeping patients, and the community, safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the Indiana Society of Chicago’s annual dinner, they highlighted key efforts made by Indiana physicians and leaders during the start of the pandemic in March 2020. The individuals honored were, “The Hoosiers who, in our time of greatest need, stood tall and accomplished some exceptional things.” Dr. Anderson was recognized specifically for his work during one of the first major outbreaks in our community.
Dr. Anderson was doing more than caring for patients. He was featured as the community’s key liaison for large and small businesses. He helped employers follow proper guidelines to safely restart their operations. This helped to keep the local economy going at a time when other states were seeing significant shut downs.
“We counted on him, as a hospital, community, and county,” shares Logansport Memorial Hospital CEO Perry Gay. “He was our expert from the beginning, and he really took on the responsibility of being the medical leader and spearheading decision-making. He played a key role in helping the hospital and the community make the right and prudent decisions. We are proud, but not surprised, that he received this recognition.”
