With the rapidly changing status of the COVID-19 outbreak in counties around us, Logansport Memorial Hospital (LMH) and the Cass County Health Department (CCHD) are working together to share information with the public about when and where to be tested for Coronavirus (COVID-19).

At the present time, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Indiana State Department of Health have issued strict criteria regarding testing for Coronavirus. LMH and the CCHD are adhering to the guidelines from these organizations and following their criteria for testing procedures.
Testing process for Logansport/Cass County
- Only individuals who are showing symptoms of fever, cough, or shortness of breath, and have tested negative for other illnesses are being tested for COVID-19. Testing for COVID-19 will not be performed without a doctor’s order and will not be given to patients who do not have the symptoms described above.
- If you have these symptoms, or other flu-like symptoms, please call your primary care provider’s office first. Call in before you come in – this is very important. Calling ahead will allow your symptoms to be assessed over the phone so that we can determine if you need further treatment, and it will limit the potential, unnecessary exposure to other patients of any virus or illness circulating at this time. You may be directed by your provider’s office to report to Express Medical Center for testing.
- If you do not have a primary care provider, please call ahead to Logansport Memorial’s Express Medical Center at (574) 722-9633 and describe your symptoms. You may be directed to come in for testing, depending on the assessment.
Please remember that the vast majority of individuals who are diagnosed with COVID-19 will only experience mild symptoms and will not require hospitalization. The Cass County Health Department will notify the public if a positive COVID-19 diagnosis is made in Cass County.

Logansport Memorial Hospital is continuing to work with the CCHD and other community organizations to ensure preparedness and capability to care for individuals who may experience any illness that requires hospitalization, like influenza or COVID-19. We are collaborating with these partners and using best practice infection prevention methods, as well as the latest information available from the CDC and the Indiana State Department of Health to protect our staff, our patients, and our community.
