Benefits of minimally-invasive surgery

Our general surgery services include inpatient and outpatient surgeries, using the latest in advanced, minimally-invasive surgical techniques and technologies whenever appropriate to minimize the risk of complications from bleeding, infection, and anesthesia.

While it has many benefits, minimally-invasive surgery is not appropriate for every patient. When it is a viable option, minimally-invasive surgery is generally considered a less risky alternative to open surgery, in part because surgeons make a limited number of smaller incisions (or, in some cases, no cuts at all).

Some of the most common potential advantages of minimally-invasive surgery include:

  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Less pain and scarring
  • Less risk of wound infections
  • Faster recovery
  • Quicker return to normal activities
